One of the rarest types of sea glass is black 'pirate' glass, which can date back as early as the 1700's. Glass makers made black glass by mixing in copper, iron and cobalt oxide. This glass was used to make bottles that protected a tonic of citrus, sugar and rum which was kept aboard ships in dark bottles as a measure against scurvy on the open seas.

Sustainable and ethically made jewelry is better for the planet than fast fashion and it is my goal to offer an enticing alternative to fast fashion by making unique pieces that you can mix and match through out your lifetime. I make everything by hand and source materials from other small businesses with similar values and ethics.

Protecting the environment from single use waste is top of mind for me so you can rest easy knowing your order is made and shipped out using sustainable materials that are plastic free. Please reuse, compost or recycle your packaging from Silver + Salmon.

5% of all Silver + Salmon sales are donated to Swiilawiid Sustainability Society, a non-profit organization on Haida Gwaii focused on sustainability and actively work to contribute to healthy communities, lands, air and waters.
